When it comes to being up in the air, the skyline of the Lower East Side has long been co-opted by killer rooftop hangs in the Meatpacking district and today Brooklyn. The LES is startng to assert itself, in no small part thanks to Mr Purple. Located on the 15th floor due to the Indigo Hotel, the roof offers a 360 degree view of the city and is rightfully open all year long.

In Winter, enjoy the view from behind the large bay window to stave off the cold. Install yourself at the counter, dip into a big bowl of hummus, grab your drink and see if you can identify One World Trade Center behind the multicolored bottles of alcohol.  In Summer, enjoy a homemade cocktail on one of the terraces (there's a pool!) face to face with the illuminated city as the sun goes down. Perfect, either way.
