Antibes through the eyes of Picasso

Residence of bishops in the Middle Ages, under the reign of the king's governor, it then became town hall in 1792 and finally barracks in 1820. The Picasso Museum in Antibes led many lives until 1946, when it was offered to Picasso to use as his studio. Picasso, inspired, worked at the castle for two consecutive months and created numerous drawings and paintings. After his stay, he left the city with no less than 23 paintings and 44 drawings. Among them, famous plays such as: The joy of living, Satyr, Faun and the Trident Century, The Woman with the Urchins, The Goat... On December 26, 1966, in tribute to Picasso, the Grimaldi Castle officially became the Picasso Museum, the first museum dedicated to the artist. Its unique collection features around 300 masterpieces donated over time by Pablo and his family.
