The Dog Museum
Over there, Medor is king.
From the dog stroller to the coat, through the shoes, the games, the games, the dog spa, the dog spa, the dating club, the dog hair stylist or even the ranking in “emotional support” to be able to accompany your masters everywhere, we thought we had seen everything in New York...
That was without counting on the new AKC Museum of the Dog, a dog museum that has just opened on the very chic Park Avenue.
Attention, no second degree here, or kitsch accessories. Everything is treated very, very seriously.
This museum that glorifies the canine species was founded in New York in 1982 but moved to Saint Louis, Missouri, five years later. Designed in partnership with the American Kennel Club (AKC), an institution dating from 1884 that lists purebred dogs and still organizes international dog shows today, it is therefore back in the Big Apple, the capital of the doggie par excellence.
Nancy Lindsay and Dorothy Welsh, two generous souls, passionate about dogs, are at the origin of this impressive collection of works of art.
Paintings, sculptures, bronzes by Herbe-Alfred Jacquemart and Pierre-Jules Mène, porcelain, sketches, medals, competitions... The inventory is vast and worth a visit if you really love dogs.
You can even learn how to train your pet animal or know everything about its lineage thanks to a dedicated library and virtual reality animations.
What a dog life...
